Ava B- Chairperson 

Ava is a junior at Smithfield High School. She became a member of the Smithfield Youth Council in August 2022, and in May 2023, she was elected as the council's first chairperson. During the 2023-2024 Smithfield Youth Council session, Ava plans to work diligently with the rest of the council members to create a variety of youth-based opportunities for the Town of Smithfield. Outside of the Smithfield Youth Council, Ava enjoys learning about computers and math, playing tennis, and leading Smithfield High School’s Future Business Leaders of America Chapter as its president. Ava is confident that the Smithfield Youth Council will be very successful and will have a positive impact on the Town of Smithfield during its 2023-2024 session. 

Grace is a junior at Smithfield High school and the vice chairperson of the council. Her responsibilities include standing in for the chairperson in their absence, and personally overseeing the committees. She is a member of several clubs at the high school including the girls soccer team, math league, and girls who code. Grace has been a member of the Smithfield Youth Council for four years and will be graduating from high school as a member. Her main goal as vice chairperson is to create a positive atmosphere within the council, while promoting community. She enjoys being a part of and overseeing events for our town and looks forward to the many more to come!

Kaya G- Secretary 

Kaya is a sophomore at Smithfield High School. This year she plans to lead projects focused on creating a community compost bin and educating the parents of Smithfield about the state of vaping among youth. Outside of Smithfield Youth Council, Kaya is involved in the Smithfield High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America, the Tobacco Free Rhode Island Youth Ambassadorship, and the Rhode Island Department of Health Youth Health Ambassadorship. She also babysits and hopes to pursue a career in pediatrics.

Reese is a sophomore at Smithfield High School. This year she plans to maintain the SYC's social media pages, create an educational presentation about vaping among youth for parents at Smithfield High School, and volunteer in all events SYC puts together. Outside of Smithfield Youth Council Reese plays soccer and track for Smithfield High School. She also helped create Smithfield Youth Driven,  is the Vice President for the class of 2026, is a member of Tobacco Free Rhode Island, helps coach young goal keepers, and is a member of Rotary Club.  She hopes to pursue a career as a Physician's Assistant after high school. 

Ethan T- Treasurer

Ethan is a junior at Smithfield High School. He is the newly elected Treasurer of Smithfield Youth Council, and will supervise and maintain an accurate record of all finances. Ethan is a very dedicated, kind, and hardworking person, and always strives to do his very best. Outside of SYC, Ethan spends his time in numerous clubs including Sentinel Singers, Drama Club, Freshman Mentoring, JV Tennis, Class Council and Tri-M Music Honors Society Secretary, as well as helping out at Gallagher Middle School's production of “Finding Nemo Jr”. Ethan loves to stay busy, and to contribute to his environment. After high school, Ethan hopes to either be an educator or do something related to chemistry. He is really excited to be the Treasurer for SYC’s 2023-2024 term.
