The Information Technology Department is tasked with overseeing a broad spectrum of technological operations within the Town Hall and various municipal buildings. Our responsibilities encompass desktop support, the setup and repair of computers, as well as ensuring the optimal performance of both local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN), including the management of necessary hardware. Additionally, we are charged with conducting cyber-security measures, and the development and upkeep of the official websites and social media platforms for the Town Hall (smithfieldri.gov) and the Smithfield Police Department (smithfieldpd.com). Under the guidance of the IT Director, our team empowers Town employees by leveraging computer technology to enhance departmental operations.
