Dispatcher—Smithfield Police Department

Full-time, hourly, union position. Responsibilities include receiving citizen requests for assistance, providing radio dispatch services, initiating deployment of police personnel and equipment, etc. Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D and be proficient in typing skills and Microsoft Word. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; at least one year of police dispatching experience and at least one year of experience with law enforcement dispatch & records management software preferred. Police Officer—Smithfield Police Department

Seeking qualified candidates to establish a one year eligibility list. Applicants must be 18 or older; a U.S. Citizen; possess valid operator’s license; must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (in any discipline) by December 31, 2024. Applicants must successfully complete physical fitness and written testing administered by Fit 2 Serve RI or be eligible for RI POST certification. To register for physical fitness and written testing visit www.fit2serveri.com. Passing physical fitness scores within 1 year prior to the application deadline will be accepted. Passing written test scores within 2 years prior to the application deadline will be accepted. Download the 2024 Police Officer Application Packet (also available at Smithfield Police Department, 215 Pleasant View Avenue, Smithfield, RI.) The application deadline is Friday, August 16, 2024 at 4:00 pm. Previous candidates must reapply. Recruitment and selection process takes approximately five months. Salary is $66,590.16. E.O.E.
