The 2021 Rhode Island Statewide Building Codes are now in effect adopting certain 2018 International Codes and their RI amendments.

As of May 1, 2022: All permit applications must comply with the 2021 RI Statewide Codes. No new permits will be accepted if designed under previous Codes.

The Commercial Building Code for the State of Rhode Island has front end amended a table in chapter 16 of the 2018 IBC. This amended table does not appear at the "Read the State Amendments" link below. The commercial design table covers state specific snow loading, wind speed by risk category, seismic coefficients, and frost depths as assigned to each town and city.
