Critical Bicycle Collision

On September 29, 2024 at approximately 8:35 pm, the Smithfield Police Department responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist at 135 Pleasant View Avenue. The bicyclist was critically injured and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.  Smithfield Police Officers took the operator, Lance Nicoletti, 38 years old of Greenville, RI into custody. He was charged with DUI Liquor or Drugs- Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (RIGL 31-27-2.6) and Driving to Endanger- Resulting in Personal Injury (RIGL 31-27-1.1). He will be arraigned this morning in Kent County District Court.
